How Calm-Eze Tablets Help Soothe Anxious & Agitated Pets

If you’re looking for effective calming tablets for your dog or cat, then look no further than Calm-Eze. Since its launch in 1976 we have sold over 200,000 packets of Calm-Eze tablets – our natural formula that helps reduce anxiety and nervousness in pets. In this blog we break down the main ingredients that make Calm-Eze one of the best calming tablets for dogs and cats available from your local pet shop, pet store and selected online outlets.

Increasingly stressful times for pets

Whenever pet owners are quizzed about the situations that their pets may find stressful, naturally Bonfire Night (or should that be Fireworks Night) comes top of the list, with a trip to the vets not far behind.

However, with a variety of cultures enjoying fireworks as part of their celebrations, such as Diwali, Chinese New Year and the end of Ramadan, loud bangs are now a year-round phenomenon and there may be more times in a year to consider healthcare products to calm your pets.

To address the challenge of the increasingly stressful lives our pets face, we have added a new product to our range, the Calming Collar for dogs. This can be used to help keep your dog’s general mood relaxed and in conjunction with Calm-Eze tablets to combat more stressful occasions.

What are the ingredients in Calm-Eze tablets?

The ingredients in our Calm-Eze tablets are L-Tryptophan, Niacin, Vitamin B6 Zinc, Pantothenic acid, Vitamin A (Retinol Equivalent), Vitamin D3 Cholecalciferol, Selenium and Vitamin E. These all play an important part in the efficacy of our product, formulated carefully to calm every nervous pet.

Some of the ingredients are present in greater quantity, with L-Tryptophan being a major ingredient due to its proven calming properties – not just on pets, but on humans too! It is an essential amino acid needed to make important proteins for the healthy function of the body.

L-Tryptophan is naturally found in red meat, poultry, eggs and dairy products. It is important for many organs but cannot be synthesised within the body and must be consumed from the diet, or for more immediate impact on pets, via Calm-Eze tablets.

What is the effect of L-Tryptophan?

L-tryptophan is an essential amino acid and is an essential building block of serotonin, the familiar chemical known to affect mood, anxiety and levels of happiness. Research, although only on a small scale in humans, has shown it helps with certain conditions, such as anxiety and sleep disorders.

Interestingly, a 2017 study reported that when researchers examined how levels of L-Tryptophan impacted tolerance for pain, it was found that higher levels of this amino acid made pain more manageable, which can only be a positive for a pet in distress.

What is the effect of Niacin?

By weight in each tablet, the second most important constituent in Calm-Eze tablets is Niacin, which is an organic compound and a form of vitamin B-3. It helps the body process components from food into usable energy, whilst keeping nervous systems, digestive systems and skin healthy.

Fortunately for those of you with nervous pets, facing a stressful event, such as a trip to the Vet, or kennels, or of course fireworks and even bird scarers if you walk in the country, Niacin is absorbed rapidly, starting to deliver benefits within hours.

Reviews of Calm-Eze from around the internet

Johnson’s Veterinary Products does not sell on the internet, our extensive range of products is typically available from pet shops and we recommend buying them there as you can seek advice on all pet health related matters from the knowledgeable staff.

However, we often gather reviews left on the websites of the pet shops we count among our thousands of customers, and here are few of Calm-Eze tablets:

“5-star product. My dog is terrified of fireworks and with Calm-Eze, no problems, she just got on with her normal evening. Tried and tested company.”

 “Great product.”

“This product seems to be working relatively well but will need time to work properly.”

 “Great Value. Worked well.”

“My dog is highly sensitive to fireworks but since giving him these he has calmed down significantly. I did give them for a while before the event and he is not completely cured but definitely a lot calmer and less stressed by the fireworks and loud noises. I certainly recommend these and they are very good value.”

“Work well. Calms her down when in the car.”

“Excellent product, highly recommended. My cat became very unsettled and withdrawn, so I researched a few things to try and help. It has worked excellently and I hope many more people get the great satisfaction I did from using this product.”
